How much does a website redesign cost in India?

Website redesign cost in India is decided by scope, not by a rate card: whether the site needs rebuilding or only fixing, how many pages and how much content have to move, what it must connect to, and how carefully its URLs and rankings are carried across. That migration work is what low quotes most often leave out.

A redesign of a small brochure site and a redesign of a multi-location business site with years of articles are both called a website redesign, and no single figure describes both. So this article gives none. It sets out what a builder is actually pricing, so you can judge the size of your own project before anyone quotes it.

A redesign is priced on two things a new site does not have: an existing site to take apart, and search history to protect. Most of the difference between quotes comes from how each one treats those two.

Redesign, revamp or fix: the decision that sets the cost

The largest cost decision comes before any quote: whether the site needs rebuilding, a new design on the same foundation, or a set of fixes. They are different jobs, and they are often sold under the same name.

A fix
The site stays on its platform and keeps its design. The work is content, titles and descriptions, broken links, structured data and a few slow pages. It is the smallest job, and often the right one.
A visual refresh
A new design on the same platform and the same structure, which is what many people mean by a website revamp. It looks like the cheap option, but if the foundation is what makes the site slow or hard to change, the refresh inherits the problem.
A rebuild
New code and a new structure, with the content carried across. Right when the foundation is the problem: a theme or page builder that makes every page slow, no room for the pages that need to rank, or a site nobody can safely change.
A rebuild on a new platform
A rebuild that also moves the site off WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or a template a freelancer configured. It adds exporting the content and mapping every old address to a new one.

If you cannot tell which you need, a website audit answers it in writing before anyone quotes a rebuild. Where the platform itself is the question, Next.js or WordPress sets out when each is the better choice.

What decides website redesign cost in India

Once the kind of job is settled, the cost of a redesign is decided by the drivers in this table, and each has a smaller and a larger version.

Website redesign cost drivers, from the smaller version to the larger one
Cost driverKeeps it smallerMakes it larger
Page typesA few kinds of page: home, a service page repeated for each service, about and contact. Many distinct page types, each designed and built on its own: services, locations, team, case studies, articles and landing pages.
ContentThe existing copy and photographs carried across as they are.Copy rewritten, new pages written for searches the old site never answered, and new photographs of the premises and the team.
Content to migrateA handful of pages copied across by hand.Years of articles, products or listings, with their images, titles, descriptions and links, exported and checked.
Search historyA site that earns little from search today, so there is less to protect.A site whose pages rank and bring in enquiries, where every address has to be listed, redirected and watched after launch.
DesignA clean design built from the brand you already have.A new visual identity, illustration or animation, and several rounds of design before the build starts.
FunctionalityAn enquiry form, a phone number and a WhatsApp link.Booking, payments, an online store, a members' area, or a connection to a CRM.
Editing after launchContent kept in files and changed a few times a year.A content management system that a non-technical team publishes to every day, with roles and approvals.
Languages and locationsOne language and one location.Several languages, or a page for every branch or city served.

Count the rows where your site sits in the right-hand column. A few is a modest redesign. Most of them is a substantial project, and the quote should say how each row has been priced.

The two rows that move it most

Content is the largest hidden variable. If the copy and photographs exist and are good, the build moves quickly. If somebody has to write them, that is a separate piece of work, and it is the most common reason a redesign runs late.

Search history is the other. A site that ranks has something to lose, and protecting it is careful, unglamorous work on every address the site has ever published.

Why migration is the part not to cut

Migration is the work that carries what the old site has earned in Google across to the new one, and it is the line a low quote most often leaves out. Rankings are lost when addresses, content or internal links change carelessly, not because the design or the framework changed.

  1. List every URL. Every address the current site has, with what each one ranks for and brings in.
  2. Redirect every URL that changes. A permanent redirect from each old address to the page that replaces it, never a blanket redirect to the home page.
  3. Carry the metadata across. Titles, descriptions and structured data move with the content rather than being rewritten from memory.
  4. Fix the internal links. Links inside the content point straight to the new addresses, not through a redirect.
  5. Watch Search Console after launch. Look for pages that drop out and errors that appear, and fix them in the weeks after the move.

Rankings can move for a few weeks after any change of site, and nobody can promise where a page will settle. What the redirects and the carried-over metadata do is protect what the old site earned. What throws it away is a relaunch that changes every address and redirects none of them.

The costs a redesign quote leaves out

Several costs sit outside the build, and they are easier to plan for before the project than to discover during it.

  • Content and photography. Copywriting and original photographs are real work. Ask whether they are in the quote or expected from you.
  • Domain, hosting and email. Moving hosting can mean changing DNS records, and a careless change can stop email on the domain. The domain and hosting should be in your name before the move and after it.
  • Tools the old site depended on. Paid plugins, form services, booking widgets and chat tools either need replacing in the new build or carrying across.
  • Care after launch. Framework and dependency updates, security patches, backups and content changes. A care plan is one way to cover them; doing it in-house is another.
  • Search work after launch. A redesign makes a site easier to rank. It does not replace the ongoing work of writing pages that answer what customers search.
  • Your own time. Approving pages, deciding which old pages are worth keeping and answering questions quickly. It is never on the invoice, and it decides the timeline more than anything else.

How to compare website redesign quotes

Compare the written scopes before the totals, because two quotes for the same site are often pricing different jobs.

  1. Is it the same kind of job? A refresh on the old platform and a rebuild on a new one are not comparable, however similar the design mock-ups look.
  2. Is the migration named? Look for the URL list, the redirects, the metadata and the checks after launch, written down.
  3. Who moves and who writes the content? Copying pages across, rewriting them and writing new ones are three different amounts of work.
  4. Who owns what afterwards? The domain, hosting, code, Search Console, analytics and Google Business Profile should all be in your name.
  5. What happens after launch? Who fixes a fault, how a change is priced, and whether care is included, optional or extra.

The fuller checklist for judging any builder is in how to choose a software development company.

When is a website redesign not worth paying for?

A redesign is not worth paying for when the site is already fast, already ranks and already brings in enquiries; then the money does more as content and links than as a new build. A dated look on its own is rarely a reason to rebuild a site that works.

Equally, if what you need is a blog your marketing team updates every day and little else, WordPress is a perfectly good platform, and a refresh on it may be all the site needs. Rebuild when the foundation is what holds the business back, and fix the site when it is not.

How MyFloww quotes a redesign

MyFloww's website redesign services rebuild a slow or dated site, whether WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or a configured template, in hand-written Next.js, with a redirect for every URL that changes. Each redesign is quoted individually once we have looked at the existing site, as a fixed price for a fixed scope, staged against milestones.

You keep the domain, the content, the URLs wherever the new structure allows, your Google Business Profile and Search Console history, and, on full payment, the new site's code in a repository in your name. To start, send the address of your current site to info@myfloww.in or through the contact page, and we will tell you what the move involves.

Why does website redesign cost in India vary so much between quotes?

Because the quotes are usually pricing different jobs. One is a new design on the old platform; another is a rebuild with a full migration, new content and a redirect for every address. Line the quotes up against the same written scope, including who moves the content and how the URLs are handled, before comparing the totals.

Will redesigning my website lose my Google rankings?

It does not have to. When every address that changes gets a permanent redirect and the titles, descriptions and structured data are carried across, the move protects what the old site has earned. Rankings often move for a few weeks after any change of site, and nobody can promise where a page will settle, which is why Search Console is watched after launch.

Is it cheaper to redesign a website on the same platform?

At the start, usually yes, because nothing has to be exported and fewer addresses change. Over time it depends on whether the platform was the problem. A new theme on a slow or fragile foundation keeps the slowness and the maintenance, and the rebuild you avoided may still be needed later.

Do I need new content for a website redesign?

Not always. Good existing copy can be carried across, and keeping the content of pages that already rank is part of protecting them. New content is worth paying for where the old site never answered what customers search, or where its pages say nothing a competitor's do not. Decide page by page, before the quote.

How long does a website redesign take?

It depends on how much content has to move and how quickly pages are approved, so a reliable timeline comes with the scope rather than before it. The most common reason a redesign runs late is content: copy and photographs that are not ready, or decisions about which old pages to keep that wait.
